A little while ago I saw the film 'Boy A' with Andrew Garfield and very impressed by his acting skills. It is based on a novel but has marked similarities to the James Patrick Bulger case. I really felt that as an actor he was able to elicit empathy for his character by not judging his actions but instead inhabiting him as a person.

Two scenes really stood out for me as perfectly acted, one was when the character first has sex and the second was when he danced alone in a nightclub after taking an e.

Just on a side note I read an online interview with Andrew where he suggested someone read Rilke's 'letters to a young poet' to help them in coming to terms with the idea of acting.  I think it's very unfair that actors I admire also have impeccable taste, what is left for the rest of us?
